Electrical Design Engineer

Are you an experienced electrical engineer who wishes to further develop your expertise in the office automation space. If you are familiar with conceptual design and have the relevant technology experience in PCBA, FPGA, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Bluetooth technologies, come join us!

Your responsibilities include:

• design, model and test mixed-signal processor-based electronics; design and source PCBs; specify and source electronic components; specify and manage firmware
• evaluate existing and emerging technologies to identify solutions that will reliably operate in a wide range of installed environments
• clearly communicate design and component constraints and trade-offs and playing an advisory role as a subject matter expert to ensure that optimal design decisions are made
• evaluate Intellectual Property (IP) landscape to identify risks created by existing IP and opportunities for creating valuable new IP
• design products to relevant electrical code and testing laboratory standards, support UL / CSA testing and listing process for products
• work closely with manufacturing to ensure that designs meet manufacturability and testing criteria

We expect you to have:

• 5+ years of experience with Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), or equivalent
• expert in analog and digital low voltage circuit design, PCB design and layout using Altium or similar software package
• experience in modeling, p-spice simulation, circuit analysis, worst case thermal analysis, MTBF and product lifetime expectancy calculation
• experience with communication and networking protocols (I2C, SPI, RS-485, Ethernet, etc.)
• experience with wireless communication protocols (Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Bluetooth, BTLE)
• demonstrated ability to devise novel technical solutions and apply known solutions to new problems in related fields
• strong project management skills to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
• willingness to roll up sleeves and drive things to completion
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
