Backend Engineer

You are someone who can write kick-ass code and are an excellent problem-solver. You have a passion for designing world-class solutions to address real-world sustainability issues. This is the job for you!

Your responsibilities include:

• design, develop, integrate and unit-test core and api functionality
• participate in application architecture design
• undertake code and design reviews
• write high quality code and work closely with QA Engineers to ensure successful testing
• contribute to the ongoing improvement of the way we work
• share knowledge and mentor others in areas of expertise

We expect you to have:

• solid commercial development experience in Python/Django development, as well as databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB
• good working knowledge of server-side frameworks (Django, Jenkins)
• extensive scrum development methodology experience
• experience with GIT and also automated testing techniques and strategies
• experience with Amazon Web Services, Alib Cloud and/or Google Cloud
• familiar with NoSQL and Big Data technologies
• strong communication and written skills in English
• strong quantitative, analytical and critical thinking skills
• technical BEng/BSc/BA degree in a Computing or Engineering based discipline is preferred but not required if you have substantial large-scale development experience.
• self-starter, with the ability to take initiative and work without detailed guidance
• experience working in a start-up environment would be beneficial
