Background

After a successful deployment in MOKO - another URA property in Mong Kok last year, the Hong Kong Urban Renewal Authority (URA) has decided to deploy En-trak A/C and Lighting on-demand solution at 777-783 Yu Chau West Street Industrial Building.

Challenge

The building was built in 1962 and was previously used for offices and storage. URA, as part of their urban renewal master plan aimed to re-vitalize this 59-year-old building into a mixed-use property with offices and retail facilities.

Solution

The URA deployed the En-trak HVAC & Lighting on-demand to retrofit the whole industrial building at 777-783 Yu Chau Street West, Sham Shui Po for commercial use (IB-2:SSP), covering a total of 170,000+ sq. ft. GFA. Over thousands of controllers were deployed among all floors. The system controls the smart devices by connecting to the central A/C system of the building; it also integrate with URA’s own meeting room booking system via open API to form an integrated smart solution for the building.

Outcome

Over 2,000 devices are independently controlled across the 10-storey, 170,000 sq. ft. building to empower occupants with personalized A/C and lighting control using their smartphone. The project helps URA to set the standard and becomes the guiding example for future redevelopment of other industrial buildings in Hong Kong.
